English Courses to follow for the academic year 2008-09, based on the results of the placement tests.

CORSI DI RECUPERO
per l'ammissione agli esami per i corsi regolari
(NB Vanno seguiti questo semestre sia i corsi di recupero sia i corsi regolari)

I seguenti studenti sono ammessi ai Moduli di Lingua Inglese del Primo Anno a condizione che seguano contemporaneamente un corso on-line di lingua inglese (“CLACSON”) e che superino il relativo esame di profitto nel mese di gennaio 2009.

In pratica, gli studenti devono svolgere, contemporaneamente al Modulo Docente (primo semestre) e al Modulo Lettore (durata annuale), anche un modulo CLACSON di apprendimento della lingua inglese “on-line”, della durata di due mesi e mezzo circa. Il docente comunicherà loro, tramite email o telefonicamente, l'indirizzo del sito e il password di accesso purché gli abbiano inviato la scheda d'iscrizione con i propri recapiti. In caso contrario spetta ai questi docenti mettersi in contatto col docente duranti le ore di ricevimento (Patrick Boylan, lun/ven, 14-15, stanza 3.01) e non prima o dopo una lezione.

Lo studente ha dalla metà di ottobre fino alla fine di dicembre per svolgere il corso complementare. Verrà sottoposti ad un esame di profitto nel mese di gennaio presso il Centro Linguistico di Ateneo, che è responsabile del corso “on-line” CLACSON. La data, l'ora e il luogo dell'esame di profitto appariranno sul sito del Centro Linguistico ai primi di gennaio.

STUDENTI CHE NECESSITANO DI UN CORSO COMPLEMENTARE PRESSO IL CLA (Centro Linguistico di Ateneo)*
*I cosi al CLA si svolgono per un terzo con un Lettore in aula e per due terzi nel laboratorio linguistico CLA

I seguenti studenti devono svolgere, oltre al Modulo Docente (durata 1 semestre) e al Modulo Lettore (durata annuale), anche un corso complementare di lingua inglese, della durata di due mesi e mezzo circa, da svolgersi al CLA (Centro Linguistico di Ateneo). Il docente comunicherà loro la data d'inizio e l'orario. Questi studenti hanno dalla metà di ottobre fino alla fine di dicembre per svolgere il corso complementare. Verranno sottoposti ad un esame di profitto nel mese di gennaio presso il Centro Linguistico di Ateneo, responsabile del corso “on-line” CLACSON. La data, l'ora e il luogo dell'esame di profitto appariranno sul sito del Centro Linguistico ai primi di gennaio. Gli studenti in questa lista sono dunque ammessi ai Moduli ufficiali del primo anno a condizione che superano l'esame di profitto.

MODULO LETTORE (B2) – Anna Connealy o Joanna Fallon

TO ALL students to whom I recommended taking courses with Connealy/Fallon:

I have to apologize for the lack of organization; Professors Connealy and Fallon have only realized now that they have no space for extra students in their classes. (As you saw in our course, many students begin coming a week or two after lessons have begun. Their classes are now completely full.)

So to give "top" first year students SOME language instruction, the Lettori will be creating a new course just for you:

CB - Friday, 8.30 - 10, Prof. Anna Connealy. Room 22

Lab (reading, writing and listening activities) - by appointment with Prof. Seonid Sinclair. You make an appointment by going to the Language Laboratory and leaving your name and email address.

Now let me finish by clarifying the reason for the "disorganization." I'm not trying to avoid the blame, but I do want you to know that the responsibility for testing you, assigning you classes according to your levels and seeing that the classes are free, is not mine. It is the responsibility of the Corso di Laurea which, however, does not have the personnel to do such things. They have lost two people and, because of turnover reduction, have no replacements. (Now you see a concrete example of the meaning of the term "turnover reduction", which students are currently discussing with respect to the Gelmini-Tremonti Law 133.)

I am doing the testing, assigning, class capacity determination, etc. for you, entirely as a voluntary effort, given the situation. This is not something most teachers do, since it is not their job.

So if there are shortcomings, please forgive me; I'm doing the best I can given the circumstances.

Parlare con la prof. Sherman per la scelta del modulo, dopo aver accertato i possibili conflitti con altri corsi.

MODULO DOCENTE – Patrick Boylan

Tutti gli studenti OCI del primo anno, nonché gli studenti LL di primo anno con inglese come seconda lingua, seguono il Modulo “Seeing and Saying Things in English” di Patrick Boylan. Verranno ripartiti in gruppi secondo criteri di complementarietà di abilità linguistiche. Purtroppo non tutti gli studenti hanno completato il test DiaLang o comunque non hanno comunicato i risulatati, pertanto la creazione dei gruppi è rimandata provvisoriamente al prossimo incontro.
