Come schedare un testo

Segue un esempio di come schedare un libro. La studentessa, Emanuela Fiorito, ha schedato un testo di Coulthard sull'analisi del discorso per la sua tesi, la quale riguarda la gestione delle interviste politiche televisive negli Stati Uniti. 
 
Dal momento che ad Emanuela serviva solo la parte del libro che spiega i concetti base per l'analisi conversazionale, lei ha schedato solo un terzo del volume.
 
Notare che Emanuela non a “spiegato” il volume.  Ha collezionato semplicemente i passi che probabilmente serviranno nella prima parte della sua tesi in cui intende descrivere il sistema da usare per analizzare poi i brani televisivi.
 
In una parola, Emanuela ha scelto i passi che definiscono termini, che danno opinioni autorevoli, che esprimono concetti importanti da citare nella tesi. Ogni passo viene preceduto dal numero della pagina, a cui farà riferimento nella tesi.
 
Come si fa riferimento nella tesi ad uno dei passi contenuti nella scheda?
 
Esempio di due frasi immaginarie tratte dalla sua tesi. I riferimenti sono anch'essi due:

I dibattici politici in Gran Bretagna, invece, possono stupire per l'educazione che i partecipanti mostrano gli uni agli altri. Infatti, la tradizione discorsiva britannica “emphasizes negative face using ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ extravagantly, even between intimates” (Coulthard, 1991:53). Questa abitudine viene inculcata sin dalla piccola infanzia, ad esempio con racconti per bambini come The bad baby (id.).”

Primo riferimento: in questo brano viene citato il passo di Coulthard che potrete leggere qui sotto, preceduto dall'indicazione “pagina 53”. Emanuela ha lasciato il passo in inglese perché nelle tesi non vanno tradotte le citazioni nelle lingue europee più diffuse.
 
Secondo riferimento: In questo caso Emanuela ha usato l'abbreviazione “id.” (che sta per “idem”) per non ripetere l'indicazione “(1991:53)” due volta di fila.  Attenzione: Emanuela non avrebbe potuto usare “id.” qualora il secondo riferimento al brano non fosse di fila (cioè se tra i due riferimenti ci fosse una diversa citazione).  In questo caso lei avrebbe dovuto scrivere per esteso, un'altra volta: (Coulthard, 1991:53).
 
L'indicazione (Coulthard, 1991:53) rinvia il lettore alla voce Coulthard nella bibliografia della tesi e, dal momento che ci potrebbero essere diversi volumi di Coulthard scritti in anni diversi, rinvia specificamente alla voce Coulthard 1991.
